Judge Minty Figurine and No Law for 2000 Miles sign!

Yes folks, it really is a miniature cast for the lead actor of the upcoming Judge Minty Fan Film, Edmund Dehn. This will be a wonderful addition to any collector of 2000 AD miniatures out there. Hang on a second, what am I saying! If you like any type of model then this is for you. I'm expecting people who play RPG's to want this, alongside crew members of Judge Minty and friends of Edmund. In fact why not just drokkin' well get one for yourself NOW!

How do you do this, well this is the best part, as you are going to be altruistic, which always helps!

Just follow the links below to make a donation to one of two worthy charities, or you could even donate to both. It really is that simple and if you are allowed to make a GIFT AID donation then drokkin' well do it. It costs nothing but adds extra money to your donation for NOTHING, which can't be bad!

It really is as simple as donating via one of those charities and following the really simple instructions, drokk, you can even pay via paypal!

All that is required is a minimum of at least £15 for one of the figures. I expect most serious collectors will put in at least £30 to get one of each type. What do you mean, one of each type, I hear you cry! Well you can go for the basic metal figurine, or you could go for the Trollcast version('Trollcast' is a revolutionary plastic/resin hybrid). Then again, why not buy both, as you know you'll want to!

All you have to do after giving your money is send an email to charitymini@gmail.com and include the following pieces of information:-

Name
Address
Just Giving receipt reference number
How many you would like and please specify which type!

So as you can see, both are worthy causes and you get something out of it as well as a warm glow, what is not to like!

Here is another picture of Edmund just to close the deal.

BEFORE YOU GO

As an extra incentive there has been something extra added!
If you donate a minimum of £25 or more, you will additionally get a project-exclusive resin display base for their miniature.
It doesn't stop there, if you donate £35 or more, you will additionally get a miniature version of the Judge Minty sign. Yes the sign that is resident in the Cellar of Dredd.

Now I hear you saying but what do I do, I've already donated a certain amount. Fear not fellow collectors. All you have to do is top up your donation, the same way you have already donated. Then when you send the email just inform Jon what you have done.!

By the way, here's what the original sign looks like!

RO-JAWS from 3A

A while ago 3A announced the second figure in their ABC Warriors was to be made and it was to be Ro-Jaws! This was to come in two versions, Regular and Blackhole, both costing around £70.

I decided to buy the normal one and paid up when they went on sale, the rest of the story is on the video!

Anyway, here are the pics of both models for your entertainment. I will start with the Regular version and follow it with the Blackhole version, shot for shot. Not much to waffle on about, as I do all that at the bottom of this article, in the video!

Just for size comaprison but you will get a better idea when you watch the video at the end!

Here is the video, ENJOY!

DREDD Original Film Soundtrack

It has nearly killed me waiting for this beauty to arrive! I know I could have bought the download but I prefer to have a physical copy of things that I pay for. Also you can look at the artwork/sleeve and upload to any device you want in your own time, if you so wish!

I pre-ordered this from Play.com for £9.99 and it's blasting out the stereo as I'm typing this (track 5 Anderson's Theme to be precise). Anyway, here are all the pics from the contents of the cd.
First up the booklet and I apologise, as for some reason the scanner has put some wavy colours across some of the photos!

The next two photos are from the box inlay at the rear. First you have the cityscape behind the disc and then on the rear, the actual track listings!

Finally, photos of what it actually looks like when you open the cd box!

DREDD3D Glasses

These were one of the few promotional items given away during the films release and sadly for us Brits, they were only dished out in the US.

As it said on the Dredd facebook page Be one of the first 300 people at your theatre to witness the action in Real3D and you'll score a pair of limited edition Dredd3D glasses! I knew I would manage to get one or two, due to the amount available but I also knew some people would some how take the piss!

The day after the US release I looked on eBay and there they all were. I saw some bod had managed to obtain a hundred at, strange that! So I put an offer in for three and it was accepted and so waited for them to arrive! Not long after the packet arrived and this is what they look like. Note:- I only show one opened, as I haven't opened the other two!

By the way, the reason I bought three was that it made sense with the p&p to get more than one!

DREDD3D 35mm Trailer

I managed to get hold of one of the DREDD3D 35mm trailers from the land of eBay the other day, for under £30 including the p&p, which was nice. Now all I need is a projector to play the bloody thing!

I have unrolled it and looked at all the frames mainly to find my 2000AD forum name, it had to be done! Nothing much else to say really, except that it's the full 2 & 1/2 min trailer.

Here are a few more pics!

The Art of Judge Dredd (coffee table book)

Not long ago Tharg, in his infinite wisdom decreed that us earthlets should have a coffee table style book covering the artwork from numerous progs of 2000 AD that have featured Dredd on the cover, hence the title!

There were to be two editions of this book. The Standard Edition and the Limited Edition (200 copies but not actually numbered inside). The Limited Edition is only available through the 2000 AD Shop and is priced at £50 plus p&p. For this the book has a different dust jacket, different binding and no bar code. The Standard Edition is priced at £40 but if you look around you can buy it for less than £25!

The book starts off with an introduction by John Wagner and the rest of the book is broken down into three sections:-

The Newsprint Era   1977 - 1987
The Painted Years    1987 - 1999
The Digital Age         1999 - present

Having now looked at both editions, I think Tharg is onto a winner and we definitely need a general 2000 AD Art of Book!

If you would like to know more about the covers and see how many of the latest ones were thought up, then why not look at Pete Wells blog (he's also written about certain covers in this book) which you'll find here 2000 AD Covers Uncovered

Enough of all this waffle, time to compare the books. First up will be the standard edition, followed by the limited edition. If you click on each picture then you will see it enlarged for your enjoyment. My photos don't do the book justice but they give you a feel of it!

Standard Edition Slip Case Cover

 Limited Edition Slip Case Cover

 Rear cover

This shows the books actual cover without the slip case and the standard edition feels just like one of the old annuals.

This has all the black areas embossed and they feel (but are not) like a very smooth velvet. The red area has the feel of your average hardback novel. I don't know the technical terms, so those descriptions will have to do!

Open the book up and you have your area to get signed at conventions!

What follows now are the three sections and just one page from each, don't want to show you too much now do we!

There you go folks!

It looks good and it feels very nice in your hands when you hold it.
My two tiny niggles are that towards the end there aren't enough contributions from the artists and writers about certain covers but I can live with that.
My other niggle is that I would have preferred, if possible to have had the cover as plain art and not cluttered with the logo and words. The original version could have been shown on the left hand page as a small box but again, I can live with that!

Just for anyone who wants to know, here are the covers:-

PROG 5, 10, 18, 44, 51, 69, 74, 82, 85, 89, 98, 105, 134, 148, 160, 161, 168, 169, 172, 182, 186, 193, 199, 204, 210, 216, 224, 225, 236, 240, 256, 267, 273, 280, 281, 284, 291, 305, 310, 316, 328, 360, 364, 375, 377, 390, 397, 403, 405, 424, 441, 446, 454, 473, 474, 477, 488, 494, 503, 507, 511, 533, 534, 551, 575, 585, 589, 593, 609, 624, 661, 668, 669, 674, 727, 786, 848, 859, 950, 1006, 1043, 1067, 1109, 1125, 1148, 1157, 1168, 1194, 1203, 1208, 1242, 1253, 1255, 1258, 1262, 1271, 1272, 1273, 1304, 1322, 1324, 1330, 1335, 1380, 1385, 1393, 1446, 1463, 1465, 1505, 1512, 1514, 1536, 1561, 1579, 1584, 1593, 1607, 1610, 1639, 1659, 1681, 1690, 1713, 1738, 1750, 1763, 1770, 1776 & 1781
